Meet Alicia Staley Johnson

Hi, I’m Alicia—an award-winning fine art photographer with a deep love for capturing the beauty of florals, light, and artistic storytelling. With over 30 years in the photography industry, I’ve built a career creating images that blend elegance, emotion, and painterly detail. My work has been published, exhibited, and collected, but what truly excites me is sharing my passion with fellow photographers and creatives.

This 3-day Fine Art Floral Photography Workshop is designed to help you elevate your floral photography to a whole new level. Whether you're a seasoned photographer looking to refine your artistic vision or a creative soul eager to explore new techniques, this immersive experience will guide you through the art of styling, lighting, and post-processing to create breathtaking floral imagery.

Hosted in a beautiful, inspiring setting, this workshop is more than just learning—it’s about creating, experimenting, and finding your unique artistic voice. I believe photography should feel personal and expressive, and my goal is to help you discover new ways to bring artistry, depth, and emotion into your work.

My Journey as an Artist

Photography has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started my career over three decades ago, specializing in portraiture, editorial, and fine art photography. My passion for artistic expression led me to develop a signature style that blends classic beauty with a painterly, editorial touch.

Over the years, I’ve worked with high school seniors, models, and corporate professionals, building Alicia’s Photography into a widely recognized, award-winning studio. But my love for photography extends beyond portraits—I’ve always been drawn to the quiet elegance of florals, still life, and travel imagery. This passion led me to explore fine art floral photography, where I could fully embrace my artistic vision and push the boundaries of light, color, and composition.

My Love for Flowers

My love for floral photography is deeply intertwined with my love for gardening. I don’t just photograph flowers—I grow them. Cultivating my own garden allows me to hand-select blooms at their most beautiful stages, ensuring that every petal, curve, and texture is exactly as I envision for my images. I use my garden and flowers to embellish arrangements or to photograph solo.

There’s something magical about watching a flower grow from a tiny seed into a stunning bloom, knowing it will soon become part of a carefully composed fine art photograph. Gardening has given me an even deeper appreciation for nature’s artistry and has influenced the way I approach composition, color, and storytelling in my photography.

Through this workshop, I hope to inspire you to see flowers not just as subjects, but as artistic elements that tell a story—whether you’re working with fresh-cut blooms, arranging your own floral still life’s, or even growing your own garden to create a personalized, sustainable source of inspiration.

I can’t wait to meet you, share my process, and help you craft floral images that feel like works of art.

Warmly,

Alicia
